Research Description

Our work investigates how proteins move between organelles in the cell, the regulation of this process and how it contributes to cell survival when nutrient availability changes. These studies are important for our understanding of what happens to cells when deprived of nutrients such as during heart attack, stroke and during organ transplantation or when overexposed to nutrients as occurs during hyperglycemia and obesity related metabolic disease. We expect that our studies will lead to new therapeutic approaches to promote cell survival in low nutrient conditions and prevent harmful effects of obesity.  To read more, please visit the lab website:
